How to use music in your boudoir sessions

Music is essential to a boudoir session. If you are a photographer and you don’t have Spotify premium you need to get it. This goes hand in hand with Photoshop and lens cleaning equipment… if you are doing photography you just need it. There is a progression to your play list that needs to be taken into consideration. First is the greeting. The greeting is familiar music typically 90s that you can play so the model feels the nostalgia of the music and sometimes sings along with the music. This should be played when your picking out your outfits and setting up your lights. Second we have the foreplay this something fun and up beat with slight undertones of sexy. Third is the buildup these songs are sexy song such as The Weeknd and Usher. This allows the model to feel sexy and to want to be sexy in front of the camera and give you her all. Lastly is the creative explosion. These songs are just like the buildup but more intense we go from Often by The Weeknd to Pussy is Mine by Miguel this where you can get very selective and choose carefully what songs you play you don’t want to break the mood. This is the way a shoot should run. Woman even professional ones don’t want to just be thrown into the shoot they need to be warmed up and given the chance to blossom. The playlist is a big deal. Music can really bring out raw emotion and power out of a model or client. In boudoir, your client wants to be sexy and bold. It is your job to bring that out there should be no excuse or reason why you couldn’t bring that out. I have had a few models be very shy around me but once we reach the buildup we reach a level together that forms trust and safety.
